![]() ![]() Relieving my fears, the Impreza’s CVT doesn’t get in the way of the driving experience as similar transmissions do in many vehicles. While it doesn’t have all of the WRX’s power or suspension upgrades, it has enough to make the car far more fun than most class rivals, and at a much lower price. To me, the RS feels like a light version of the Subaru WRX. I recently tested a 2024 Subaru Impreza RS, which is fitted with the larger 182-horsepower engine and a sportier suspension setup than lower trims. Its manual transmission also goes by the wayside, in favor of a standard continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT). The 2024 Subaru Impreza’s complete redesign does away with the sedan, in favor of hatchbacks only. The 2024 model year marks some big changes for Subaru’s most affordable model.
